Chandigarh 11 Oct. HC permits all those petitioners, who are otherwise eligible for appointment to the post of 5078 posts of Rural Associate Teachers, but have passed the TET Examination on June
9th, 2013, to provisionally appear in counseling for said appointment: The HC today granted relief to a significant number of petitioners, including those in the main civil writ petition, filed by Paramjit Kaur and some other persons, by permitting them to provisionally appear in counseling being conducted for appointment to 5078 posts of Rural Associate Teachers. It is pertinent to note that State Government had invited applications last year for 5078 posts of Rural Associate Masters, upto October 8th, 2012, and it was a condition that such candidates must have passed Teachers Eligibility Test. Certain persons challenged the said condition on the ground that State of Punjab had not conducted TET Examination, though it was mandatory for it to conduct it once in a year. During pendency of the writ petitions, State of Punjab got conducted TET in June, 2013, and result of the said Test was declared on June 9th, 2013. Some of the persons who had now qualified TET Examination filed these writ petitions, seeking extension of last date of receipt of applications, as they could not pass TET earlier on account of the lapse of the State Government to conduct such a TET Examination during 2012. While hearing a number of such CWPs today, Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa today directed that all those petitioners, who qualified the TET Examination on June 9th, 2013, and who otherwise fulfill other conditions of eligibility, shall be allowed to participate in counseling provisionally, but their result shall not be declared without permission of the High Court. However, those petitioners, who were eligible and had also already qualified the TET Examination earlier, but deliberately did not chose to apply for these posts before last date for receipt of applications, shall not be allowed to participate in Counseling, which is being conducted, and is scheduled to be continued upto October 17th.
