Public Notice: For Polytechnic/Engineering Diploma Holder Applicants of JEE (Main) 2013
Eligibility for BE/B.Tech/B.Arch admission through JEE (Main) 2013
It is informed to all the candidates appeared for JEE (Main) 2013 that during the process
it has been noticed that there are candidates who have done various polytechnic or engineering
diploma programme from various State Board of Technical Education and applied for JEE (Main)
examination.
In this connection the AICTE has informed that students who have completed
Engineering/Architecture/Pharmacy Diploma programme from an AICTE approved Institution;

with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in
appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy are eligible for
admission to 2nd year of 4 year degree Engineering/Pharmacy and 5 years Architecture
programme respectively through Lateral Entry. Such a candidate need not give any entrance
examination.
The AICTE has also informed that, if a diploma level candidate wishes to be admitted to
1st year of 4 year degree Engineering/Pharmacy or 5 year Architecture programme and if he
also possesses a class 12th Certificate, then he is eligible on the basis of class 12th Certificate.
Therefore, if any polytechnic/engineering diploma holder candidate has passed class
12th also from a Board between year 2011 to 2013, he/she should immediately update
his/her class 12th information on the JEE website http://jeemain.nic.in through link
“Confirmation of class 12th/Qualifying Examination Details” by selecting Board, Year of
passing and Roll No., failing which it will be assumed that he/she is only diploma holders and
will not be treated eligible for admission to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Planning as per above
guidelines of AICTE.
